GENESIS: The Failing Forward Podcast is the home of leaders who don’t quit. Hosted by Lady Jaye, this show is about turning setbacks into setups for purpose.
Every episode dives into real stories, practical lessons, and honest conversations about what it means to fail forward—not as an identity, but as a movement. Here, failure is a verb, not an adjective. It’s something you experience, learn from, and rise beyond.
From personal journeys to leadership insights, you’ll hear how to reframe failure as a beginning, extend yourself grace in the process, and build resilience, creativity, and empathy that can transform your life and work.
If you’re ready to shift your focus from “why me?” to “what’s next?” and step into your Genesis moment, this podcast is for you.

What happens when keeping the peace becomes more important than being honest about what you need?
In this final episode of the Genesis: The Failing Forward Podcast Enneagram Series, we explore Enneagram Type 9, often called The Peacemaker.
Type 9s are often described as easygoing, calm, supportive, and able to see multiple perspectives. But underneath those strengths can be a pattern of minimizing their own needs, avoiding conflict, delaying decisions, and disconnecting from their own voice in order to maintain harmony.
In this episode, we go deeper than simply calling Type 9 “the peaceful one.”
We explore what it means to fail forward as a Type 9—learning that peace doesn't require you to disappear, disagreement doesn't automatically mean disconnection, and choosing yourself doesn't make you selfish.
We'll talk about how this pattern can show up in leadership and relationships, why avoiding a decision can sometimes become a decision, and how Nines can begin practicing presence, self-awareness, boundaries, and honest communication.
You'll also receive practical stillness practices to help you reconnect with your own wants, recognize where you've said yes when you meant no, and become more comfortable expressing your perspective.
And because this is the final episode in our Enneagram series, we'll step back and look at the bigger lesson behind all nine patterns:
You are not your pattern.
The Enneagram isn't about putting yourself in a box. It's about becoming aware enough to recognize the patterns that have been leading you—and creating the freedom to choose differently.
Reflection Question
What pattern am I ready to stop letting lead me?
You don't have to become someone else. You get to become more fully yourself.

What happens when strength becomes the way you protect yourself from vulnerability?
In this episode of Genesis: The Failing Forward Podcast, we explore Enneagram Type 8, often called The Challenger—a pattern rooted in strength, autonomy, protection, intensity, and the desire to remain in control of your own life.
We’ll look at how the Type 8 pattern can show up in failure, leadership, and relationships. We’ll explore the difference between strength and control, protection and defensiveness, and directness and domination.
Most importantly, we’ll talk about what it means to fail forward as a Type 8: learning that vulnerability doesn't make you powerless, asking for help doesn't diminish your strength, and healthy leadership doesn't require you to carry everything yourself.
Through practical examples and stillness practices, this episode invites Type 8s to pause before reacting, become curious about what may be underneath their anger, and practice trusting without surrendering their strength.
If you're new to the Enneagram, start with the foundational episode, “Failing Forward with the Enneagram: Awareness Is the First Act of Leadership.”
Because the goal isn't simply to know your number.
It's to understand your pattern well enough to choose differently.
Reflection Question
Where have I confused being strong with being in control—and what would it look like to trust without surrendering my strength?

What happens when your ability to stay positive becomes a way of avoiding what hurts?
In this episode of Genesis: The Failing Forward Podcast, we explore Enneagram Type 7—the pattern of optimism, possibility, movement, and the desire to avoid feeling trapped by pain or limitation.
We’ll look at how Type 7 patterns show up in failure, leadership, and relationships, including overcommitting, constantly looking for what’s next, avoiding difficult conversations, and walking away when things become uncomfortable.
More importantly, we’ll talk about what it means to fail forward as a Type 7: learning to stay present, finish what you start, sit with discomfort, and discover that you don't have to escape an uncomfortable moment to move through it.
Because avoiding pain doesn't eliminate it. It delays it.
If you're new to the Enneagram, start with our foundational episode, “Failing Forward with the Enneagram: Awareness Is the First Act of Leadership.”
Reflection Question
Where am I avoiding discomfort instead of allowing it to grow me?

What really happens inside the cocoon?
A caterpillar does not strive to become a butterfly. It does not envy the sky. It does not know it was created for wings. And yet — hidden inside its very design — is the blueprint for transformation.
In this episode, we explore the science and the sacred mystery of metamorphosis — how a caterpillar dissolves inside the cocoon, how imaginal cells activate, and how something entirely new emerges from what once was.
Then we parallel that process to our own lives.
What if the dark seasons are not detours — but formation? What if the container that feels confining is actually protective? What if becoming requires a dissolving before a rising?
We’ll explore:• What truly happens inside the cocoon during metamorphosis• Why caterpillars were always meant to become butterflies• The difference between transformation and formation• How God uses hidden seasons to shape identity• What it means to “feel forward” instead of force forward• Why your current season may be preparation, not punishment
You are not becoming something different. You are becoming who you were always purposed to be.
If you are in a cocoon season, this episode is for you.

Integrity is often praised—but rarely protected.
For Enneagram Type Ones, leading with integrity can quietly turn into over-responsibility, chronic tension, and burnout disguised as “doing the right thing.”
In this episode, we explore what it means to lead with integrity without burning out, especially for leaders who feel internally driven to fix, correct, and carry more than their share.
You’ll hear:
The difference between integrity and over-responsibility
How the inner critic keeps the body in a constant state of tension
Why rest is not a reward, but a requirement for sustainable leadership
How stillness helps Type Ones release control without losing their values
This conversation invites you to consider a different kind of leadership—one rooted in presence, nervous system regulation, and grace.
Rest is not a reward.
It’s part of righteous leadership.
